The project Goal
To improve the transparency of the operation of the Serbian courts and enable
easier access to the justice system for the public as well as legal
professionals.
Objective
In collaboration with the Judicial Web NGO, the Ministry of
Justice will help facilitate the obtainment of information so that the web
pages for all the Municipal and District courts in the nation can be developed.
The Judicial web will provide the complete infrastructure for the activities
necessary to implement this project. The formation of a help desk which court
administrators can contact, the obtainment of data, its entry and verification,
programming of the application, etc. Upon completion, the Judicial Web NGO
will hand over to the MOJ a completed and functioning application along with
all the relevant up-to-date data inputted into the databases.
Objective 2
The development of a comprehensive database for all expert witnesses and court
appointed interpreters. All of the expert witnesses and court interpreters in
Serbia will be contacted in order to update their information and enhance the
quantity of information that will be presented about each of them through their
newly developed web pages. There will be several thousand web pages developed
in this activity, that will also be searchable through various key indexes
defined by the MOJ. The complete database will be made available via the
internet to all parties. All of the information presented through the web pages
and the complete project will be in dual languages, Serbian and English.
EFFECTS OF PROJECT
This application will empower the citizens in their interaction with the courts
and enable access to information never before available to the public;
organized in an easy to understand and user friendly manner. The complete
project will be developed through cooperation with the Judicial Web NGO
and generous donor support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Norway. This
project will not cost the Serbian tax payer a single Dinar. Once completed, the
application in addition to all the information contained will be transfered to
full ownership of the MOJ.
